Swiss Giants Pansy (Giant Pansy Wittrockiana) is a cool-season flowering annual that is native to mountain meadows of Europe. The flowers measure up to 4 inches across and are quite oversized compared to regular-sized Giant Pansy seeds. They come in white, yellow, red, blue, purple, and bicolor. The plants reach 8 inches tall and form dense, compact mounds that don’t flop or sprawl. While technically a short-lived perennial, Giant Pansy Wittrockiana is almost always grown as an annual or biennial because it goes out of flower during the heat of summer. In USDA Zones 5-9, Swiss Giant Pansy seeds thrive and bloom right through winter and into spring in mild-winter climates. In favorable conditions, it will also self-seed, so one good growing season will give you a jump start on the next.
