Mix Chief Cockscomb (Celosia Argentea var. Cristata) — is a warm-season annual, native tropical Africa and Asia, so well naturalized that it is grown both as an ornamental and as a food plant. The Chief Mix grows 36-40 inches tall, with crested blooms in deep red, gold, pink, and purple hues, all on one plant, if your seeds happen to be mixed. It blooms from early summer until the first hard frost, growing optimally in USDA Zones 3-11. It is not a perennial, but in Zones 10-11, it self-sows so well that you might forget that fact.
